With this project, you will contribute to tackling plastic waste and building a circular economy in Salvador.

This initiative will consist of a pilot phase that will implement targeted recycling efforts and cooperative strengthening to optimize waste collection and material recovery. This will enable us to identify best practices, address existing gaps, and scale successful models across the city. Building on these insights, the project aims to improve waste picker livelihoods, expand recycling, and enhance material recovery. By formalizing cooperatives, increasing market access, and strengthening infrastructure, Salvador is positioning itself as a model for inclusive recycling systems. The initiative also mitigates environmental impacts through resource efficiency and reduced emissions, setting new standards for sustainable urban waste management.
