In Melaka resilience is woven into the communities of Kampung Morten and Pantai Peringgit.

Families and older residents live with intense heat frequent floods and financial hardship that make daily life harder. Even so they care for their heritage support each other and work together to build safer streets cooler homes and a thriving riverside shaping solutions that strengthen resilience every day.

Through the Resilience for Communities program the City of Melaka with the communities of Kampung Morten and Pantai Peringgit have co-developed a roadmap of actions to prepare for heat and flood risks and to build long-term resilience. The Community Action Plans (CAPs) record the trust collaboration and action already happening on the ground and were made possible with the support of Zurich Malaysia and the Z Zurich Foundation.

About Resilience4Communities

Resilience 4 Communities is part of the Urban Climate Resilience Program led by the Z Zurich Foundation and delivered in collaboration with Resilient Cities Network and local partners. In Melaka it is implemented with the Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB). The program works directly with communities facing heat and flood risks to understand lived realities, co-design practical solutions and initiate early projects that can be scaled over time. R4C strengthens urban resilience by connecting community actions to city systems and mobilizing partners to accelerate climate preparedness.
