Every city has communities navigating harder paths—and still they are moving forward every day.
Each has its own story of resilience
RESILIENT COMMUNITIES
Houston
In Houston, resilience is woven into the communities of Alief and Trinity Houston Gardens. Even as residents face food insecurity and increasingly intense heatwaves and floods, they are not standing still. They are coming together, finding solutions and building resilience.
HOUSTON

With nearly 6 million residents, Houston is the largest city in Texas and is an industrial and economic powerhouse along the Gulf Coast. The city’s exponential population growth and urban sprawl over recent decades has also increased pressure on city services and the environment. Extreme heat and flood events have become more dangerous as nature is being replaced with concrete.

After Hurricane Harvey left much of the city flooded and without electricity, the city took the next step in its resilience journey, releasing its Resilient Houston strategy for a future where all Houstonians can thrive in the face of challenges.
