Melaka is a UNESCO World Heritage City renowned for its rich history and multicultural heritage. Tourism tied to this status is the backbone of the local economy, making the city highly dependent on preserving its cultural assets.
But rising risks are putting this identity in jeopardy. Recurring floods, water shortages, aging infrastructure and extreme heat threaten heritage neighborhoods, strain city services and expose vulnerabilities for residents and the tourism sector alike. To respond, the state developed Resilient Melaka, a strategy to protect heritage and strengthen resilience through coordinated action, improved flood management and community preparedness.
