Just a few years from 2030, progress on gender equality remains uneven. According to the United Nations (2022), only 15.4% of SDG 5 indicators are on track. In cities, where both opportunities and inequalities concentrate, this gap is especially visible and urgent.
This compendium responds by showing how a gender perspective can shape stronger urban resilience. When lived experiences inform policies, projects and programs, they open the door to solutions that reflect how people move through and experience the city.

Developed through the Metro Resilience Guadalajara initiative, in collaboration with Metropolitan Guadalajara and Barcelona and supported by the European Union, this publication brings together practices from across the globe that connect resilience with gender equality in concrete ways.
The cases featured here highlight what is already happening on the ground and how these efforts can inform future action. They offer a shared space for learning, collaboration and continued progress toward more inclusive, resilient cities.
