A city is only as resilient as its communities.
When cities, communities, and funders work together, lasting change and resilience becomes possible.
At Local Roots for Resilience—a two-day Knowledge Exchange— R-Cities will bring together city leaders, community-based organizations, funders, and resilience experts to reflect on what’s working, challenge what isn’t and explore how we can build the conditions for community resilience to take root and grow from the ground up.
With support from Zurich North America and the Z Zurich Foundation, the Resilience for Communities (R4C) program has helped city leaders and local partners in Boston and Houston deliver bold, community-led solutions—built on trust, grounded in lived experience, and driven by action.
Now, we’re bringing that momentum to Chicago—a city where neighborhood action is already shaping how communities respond to heat, housing, and cascading crises.
