World Cities Summit 2022 Liveable and Sustainable Cities: Emerging Stronger.

The World Cities Summit 2022 is an in-person event from 31 July to 3 August at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore. Themed ”Liveable and Sustainable Cities: Emerging Stronger”, it focuses on how cities can emerge stronger and more resilient through prolonged and unpredictable disruptions.

Jointly organized by Singapore’s Centre for Liveable Cities and the Urban Redevelopment Authority, the 4-day event comprises of the main conference and other highlights. They include the WCS Mayors Forum, WCS Young Leaders Symposium, the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize Lecture & Forum, the Expo and site visits. It is held in conjunction with our Key Partner, the Asia Infrastructure Forum.

As a strategic partner of WCS 2022, Resilient Cities Network will be co-hosting two events:

  • Tue, 2 August, 8:30 AM SGT – Accelerating Urban Water Resilience: On the Road to the 2023 UN Water Conference

Being responsible for the daily lives of their residents, city officials and mayors realize and understand that providing a water resilient future promises multiple benefits and are ready to take the next steps. The Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Centre for Liveable Cities and R-Cities have come together to convene a high-level dialogue for city leaders and partners on water resilience to discuss what is needed to improve water resilience by rapidly scaling solutions. This session is co-hosted by The Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Centre for Liveable Cities.

 

  • Tue, 2 August, 2:00 PM SGT – Urban Eats: Food Circularity and Resilience

R-Cities is launching a campaign calling on investments into a new program on food circularity and resilience, which will work with city leaders to solve pressing food issues by building food circularity. At the event, R-Cities and partner Arup will also jointly launch a food and circularity paper, ‘Urban Eats: How Cities Leverage Opportunities to Build Resilient Food Systems through Circular Pathways’, which will inform the campaign, recommend approaches and showcase solutions from the Network. This session is co-hosted by Arup.
