The pilot year of the Global Risk and Resilience Fellowship brought together city leaders, who have a deep understanding of urban resilience challenges, and insurance professionals who have a specific risk expertise to develop tangible resilience solutions to a key risk in 5 cities. Each city conducted an exploration into a unique risk and resilience challenge, demonstrating the reach and diverse intersection of insurance and resilience.
- Melaka: The team explored solutions that both cost-effectively manage increasing flood risks and preserve heritage sites and UNESCO status
- Surat: The team explored the critical climate risks to municipal solid waste infrastructure to future proof the waste management strategy
- Greater Miami & Beaches: The team created three parametric policy concepts for communities facing vulnerabilities to extreme weather events.
- Glasgow: The team explored how insurance could be used as a macro and micro tool for unlocking financing for the net-zero transition portfolio.
- The Hague: The team created a comparison methodology for risks within the city to help prioritize funding and adaptation solutions.
