ICLEI European Secretariat and the Global Resilient Cities Network (GRCN) Europe and the Middle East (EME) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the closing plenary of the European Urban Resilience Forum on 27 May.
Represented by Wolfgang Teubner, ICLEI’s Regional Director and GRCN’s Regional Managing Director Lina Liakou, the collaboration aims to support cities in building a more resilient and sustainable future.
As cities across the region are engaged in their recovery from the health and economic crisis brought by the Covid-19 pandemic, organizations will join forces to enhance knowledge and share information. The goal is to facilitate bilateral cooperation to position cities as resilience hubs, enable knowledge sharing, organize events and workshops, and promote networking and partnerships to build stronger, smarter, and more sustainable cities.
The collaboration is supported by Chief Resilience Officers across the region including, Arnoud Molenaar from Rotterdam, Piero Pelizzaro from Milan, Lenio Myrivili from Athens, Michalis Koupkas from Thessaloniki, and Ana Ardelean from Tbilisi.
