Quezon City

QUEZON CITY

Quezon City, the largest city in the Philippines’ National Capital Region, spans 16,112.58 hectares and is home to over three million residents. Despite consistent progress, the city faces a variety of challenges, including shocks such as heatwaves, floods, and typhoons, alongside chronic stresses like traffic congestion, informal settlements, and pollution, all of which are further exacerbated by climate change.

These adversities has prompted the city to prioritize disaster risk reduction and management, investing on modern and state-of-the-art multi-hazard early warning systems, and capacitating its residents with skills and knowledge on disaster management.

Moreover, as one of the country’s leading environmental trailblazers, Quezon City has prioritized inclusivity, advancing circular economy, enhancing energy efficiency, maximizing nature based solutions, and promoting green transport to build a livable, sustainable, and resilient community for all.

By joining the Resilient Cities Network in January 2025, Quezon City seeks to strengthen its resilience efforts through collaboration with global practitioners and the integration of best practices to address its evolving urban challenges.
