With this project, you will contribute to advancing community-led circularity and environmental stewardship in Bangkok, aligned with citywide goals to reduce waste leakage and foster sustainable tourism.

The initiative will begin with a pilot in the Talat Phlu area, a historic canal-side neighborhood with strong civic engagement and tourism potential. During the pilot phase, Bangkok will engage local champions, schools, businesses, and tour operators to promote waste separation, establish a community waste bank, and host pop-up recycling markets. An integrated digital data collection system will enhance traceability and reduce leakage into surrounding rivers and canals. The full-scale project will build on these learnings to expand community-based waste separation across additional districts, strengthen data systems aligned with BMA’s KPIs, and scale local innovations in circular waste management. By turning waste into a shared responsibility, the project will improve resilience and public health, empower citizens, and protect Bangkok’s waterways and urban environment.
