With this project, you will contribute to the expansion of Santa Fe’s recycling infrastructure, stimulating the circular economy through an integrative, participatory waste management model aligned with municipal ambitions.
During the pilot phase, the city will expand its Eco Puntos network—material drop-off points—and establish sustainability parks where residents can exchange recyclables for organic goods like seeds and compost. Sustainability Parks will offer refill stations for bulk goods using reusable containers. The full-scale phase will entail the installation of Santa Fe’s first plastic reprocessing plant to transform recovered plastics into new products such as street furniture, slabs, and bricks. Based on learnings from the pilot, the Eco Puntos network will expand further to increase supply of recyclable plastics. By engaging the community and adding value to recyclables, the project will reduce plastic leakage and ecological footprint, divert waste from landfills, and improve circularity outcomes.
