Being strongly committed to the UN Agenda 2030, the city of Barcelona has a recovery plan which emphasizes sustainability (particularly in the tourism sector), inclusive social rights, and access to digital services. The city’s goal is to build a more resilient economy and more cohesive community with emphasis on the digital and green economy .
Laia Bonet, Deputy Mayor of Barcelona explained how COVID-19 has made the digital divide between have and have not even more glaring. Closing this gap will requires training of marginalized citizens and accessibility for all.
Miquel Rodriguez Planas, Commissioner of 2030 Agenda at Barcelona City Council, explained how Barcelona’s Agenda 2030 focuses on environmental, social, and economic sustainability, to be better prepared for possible crises in the future.
